Is it art? Is it lighting? Sometimes questions are better than answers…
Several years ago I realized that though I was working with glass, the material I was really focussed on shaping was LIGHT. I was manipulating glass to shape light. Ironic – plain and simple.
Much of my public art work has been influenced by this self-realization.
My most recent public art commission, “Between Infinite Stars…” for The Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation is the most progressive example of this. I used carefully controlled light and just a few critical pieces of dichroic glass. Along the way I discovered a “light language” that I’ll be using in smaller, home or office friendly unique objects.
Is it art or is it lighting? LUX UNIKA!
